Gaven Mize began studying art, the expression of art, art analysis, and critical appreciation cultivated during his undergraduate days in Wisconsin. After studying for his Master Degree he began to apply art in the theraputic realm and is currently enrolled in the Scholistico Art Therapy program. Mize was awarded a Doctorate from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, In. Mize's dissertation was in beauty as it is perceved through the senses.
Gaven came about art through the outsider school. Having been an art critic for the past 2o years, Mize brings to the craft an appreciation that spans early Christian iconography to the Renaissance masters to 80's obscurity artists to his own style now on the horizon. Obscuritas from Obscurus Mize has brought a new and freshly devolped style to the art world.
While Mize has had a passion for art that spans decades it was when he began to explore creating art specifically for the purpose of alleviating the strain of mental health struggles that he found art is nessary for a happy life. Mize has begun research in to coupling art therapy and mental health for people who struggle to express their emotions through other channels. Mize is an active Registered Behavior Technician working with the autistic population and will be integrating art therapy with them as he graduates from Scholistico.
